Set Apart As Holy to God

Do you live a double life or is your life evidentially dedicated to God?

“Women, for their part, should display their beauty by dressing modestly and decently in appropriate clothes, not by braiding their hair or by wearing gold, pearls, or expensive clothes. Their beauty should be displayed through good works. This is proper for women who claim to have reverence for God. ” –1 Timothy 2:9-10 (ISV)

I agree with the Apostle Paul, that it is inappropriate for men or women to dress or behave in a manner unbecoming of one who follows Christ. We are to be set apart, sanctified, holy. If we dress and behave like those who do not know Christ, how can anyone tell we are His?

The same can be said about Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) videos and/or Christian Rap videos. The music, etc. are exactly like the non-Christian music/rap/hip-hop. The only difference are the lyrics. The rappers still wave their hands around the same way, wear the same clothes, the same bling, etc. And the Christian rockers are all about the guitar riffs, drums, etc. It’s all about being like the world SUPPOSEDLY to attract non-believers, but that is a bunch nonsense! You know it, I know it, and so do they!

Those who have been called by God are to “Be holy as I am holy.” There is nothing holy about dressing to impress. There is nothing holy about looking, acting, and sounding just like those who do not know Christ.

And don’t give me that nonsense about how David danced like a fool when they were bringing the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem and how he disrespected his wife after she told him the truth, that he was acting shamefully dancing around in his underwear like a monkey.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Holy is what God is and what we are called to be.

Set apart from the crowd. Sanctified. Humble. Holy.
