Welcome

Hello! My name is Karl and I have been clean and sober since July 12, 1999.

I could not have done this on my own. It is only by the power and the grace of God that I can make such a claim. All the credit, all the glory, belongs to God. And yes, when I say God, I am talking about God as he is revealed in the Scriptures of the Judeo-Christian Bible. My “life message” is all about; recovery, restoration, and renewal, by faith in Christ.

“Nothing of great and lasting value ever comes easy;
a price must be paid, a sacrifice must be made.”

In July of 1999, I made a decision to begin working the 12-Step program of recovery as outlined in the “Big Book” of Alcoholics Anonymous. The “Big Book” led me back to the “Good Book” and helped me to believe, know, and trust Yeshua (Jesus). And He is not just my Redeemer; He is also Lord of my life.

Now to be sure, without the program of Alcoholics Anonymous, I probably would have died an alcoholic death. Yet I firmly believe that had I not chosen to surrender to the One true God of ALL creation, I probably would have died a slow, miserable death; full of remorse and self-pity.

Today I live free from the insanity that haunted me for over 30 years. Today I have the pleasure and the privilege to freely pass along what has freely been given to me. And I am not just talking sobriety here. Moreover I am talking about practicing the spiritual principles just as they were practiced by the founders and pioneers of A.A. — all of them being based upon a solid foundation of a living and active faith in the Son of God.

It is my prayer that everyone who finds themselves unable to tame the beast within, will come to know the Prince of Peace and release from all the pain and sorrow that for so long has been impossible to overcome. And if you haven’t already, it is my hope that you will discover what I (and thousands like me) have discovered — the greatest treasure of all time — a new and abundant life in Christ.

Grace and peace,
Karl D Rhoads

    • Yes, it is good and encouraging to learn how God is moving and changing people’s hearts and lives. I know that early in my recovery I needed to hear many such testimonies as they really helped me to hold on, trust, and be patient in the process.

      I continue to rejoice at such testimonies, and all the more when I hear them from young people and/or from people whom God rescued when they were young (and they are still strong today and giving God all the praise and glory)!

  1. What a wonderful story of overcoming through Christ you have! Thank you for sharing it, and thank you for sharing the truth of the One who set you free while recognizing and giving respect to the mode which brought you to Him. God can use anything or anyone to bring us to Him. God bless you as you become a light to those whose paths cross with yours.

    There is truly only one force that has anyone “end up” where they “needed to be”; And everyday I thank Him for where “He” had me “end up”..!! God Bless…

    • Amen! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

      The God who made the universe and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth. He doesn’t live in shrines made by humans, and he isn’t served by humans as if he needed anything. He gives everyone life, breath, and everything they have. From one man he has made every nation of humanity to live all over the earth. He has given them the seasons of the year and the boundaries within which to live. He has done this so that they would look for God, somehow reach for him, and find him. In fact, he is never far from any one of us.
      Acts 17:24-27 GWT

    • Thank you, Tim. I did catch your clarification over on the other blog. Much Appreciated.

      Glad to learn that you, too, have discovered a way of life that no longer requires the addictive agents that ensure a person will die full of sorrows and regrets.
